Call for Pitches for the Highlights Section
Anthropologists!
Specifically, early career anthropologists!
Queer, feminist, trans*, BIPOC, neurodiverse anthropologists, anthropologists with disabilities, those with working-class backgrounds, first-generation scholars, migrants, refugees, and those engaged in decolonial, anti-racist, and intersectional work!
We want to highlight you.
The new Highlights section of the American Anthropologist website will feature short essays that offer fresh perspectives on contemporary issues; ethnographic snippets that capture compelling moments from fieldwork; theoretical ruminations that push the boundaries of anthropological thought; speculative fiction that imagines new worlds and possibilities; creative ethnography that rethinks the presentation of ethnographic work through innovative forms; ethnographic poetry that distills insights into lyrical form; ethnographic visual work such as photography or graphic illustrations; video pieces that bring ethnographic moments to life; sound bites or audio recordings that explore sonic landscapes; interviews that engage thought-provoking voices from the field; and much more that seeks to reimagine the boundaries of anthropological expression.
If you’re interested in being highlighted, send a 200-word pitch outlining your idea to our Associate Editor for Online Content, Armanc Yildiz, at ayildiz@g.harvard.edu.
